The Dr. Pat Show: Talk Radio to Thrive By!: Transformation Radio's Good News Segment: What's New in the Health Arena, How You Can Help Others & Help YourselfThis Good News Segment brings you information about what is going on in the health care arena, what would be helpful to know more about and who's bringing the important conversations to the forefront. May is Stroke Awareness month, it's a good time to hear some little-known facts that just may save your life. Plus Dr. Pat is helping to raise awareness of Lung Cancer in honor of National Women's Lung Health week. Also, what are the challenges we face in taking care of our American Veterans, and why is it so important to our continued freedom.

Papatya Tankut, VP of Pharmacy Affairs for CVS Health, will help you to understand what can be done to help prevent Lung Cancer. The American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE initiative - nationallly presented by CVS Health - is uniting women and their loved ones across the country to stand together against lung cancer, the #1 cancer killer of women and men. One little-known fact of lung cancer is that every 8 minutes a woman will lose her battle with lung cancer. Smoking still remains the leading risk factor in developing lung cancer. Contact the American Lung Association Freedom from Smoking Program to, at the very least, get support in stopping smoking.

National Commandeer of the American Legion, Charles E. Schmidt shares what we can do to make it a priority to support our American Veterans. For instance: 80,000 veterans have been waiting more than five years to have their veterans disability claims finally adjudicated. To maintain a strong volunteer military, America needs to provide a high quality of life for military members and their families. The American Legion programs such as, Operation Comfort Warriors, Boys State, American Legion Baseball, National Emergency Fund, and more, benefit and touch countless lives. Contact your congressional representatives and share your concerns of those issues that are affecting the men and women who serve and have served our country. Get involved: American Legion website

Dr. Paul Singh and Colonel Patrick Johnson reveal what you think you know about stroke - YOU DON'T! Stroke is the leading cause of disability in America and the 5th leading cause of death. It can happen to anyone at any time - people suffer strokes more than heart attacks. Hear Colonel Johnson's story of how even if you are in the best health of your life, it can happen to you. There are risk factors that can be eliminated says Dr. Singh, such as smoking. There are actually regions in the country that are considered a "stroke belt" due to their cuisine which leads to risk factors.
